MR-1or MR-1A Pro cast iron or aluminum is the best block for the customer that wants a high horsepower block that will hold up to the rigors of serious racing. This block will be custom made to your specifications. Pro width steel main caps,4 bolt front cap (need to customize oil pan to fit these options) Lifter bore and cam bore of your choice.

 


MR-1 and MR-1A PRO

K&M Performance Parts is continually striving for improved performance, durability and reliability from our MR-1 and MR-1A engine blocks. With this in mind we have developed a new bottom end that will allow the MR-1 and MR-1A to achieve even higher levels of durability and reliability for racers who choose to push traditional Pontiac horsepower levels further than ever before. The new PRO Pontiac block with its improvements is not for the faint at heart.  The new innovative main cap configuration utilized in the PRO block enlists the strength of the block's pan rails which is the strongest area of the block.  This allows the main caps to encompass the entire main web.  ½” ARP studs are used to tie the caps to that substantial portion of the block and the cap acts as a truss for superior strength and added support. Adopting this new innovation in Pontiac aftermarket block manufacturing limits the user of the PRO block to use an aftermarket oil pan, as the massive main caps require numerous oil pan bolt hole relocations.  To further strengthen the MR-1 and MR-1A PRO blocks we include our four bolt front cap as a standard feature. This added stabilization of the front of the crankshaft will enhance durability for the racers who prefer to utilize aftermarket power adders such as superchargers, turbochargers and nitrous oxide.  It also adds confidence to the growing number of naturally aspirated racers who are pushing engine RPM levels higher than ever before in Pontiac racing.  Additionally a 55mm roller cam bore is standard with the Pro block as are bronze lifter bore liners to allow for maximum lift and the use of the latest designs in camshaft technology.  Many of our customers are utilizing our standard MR-1 blocks with great success at power levels well over 1,500 horse power and our sponsored Pro Mod Firebird has achieved in excess of 1,900 horse power with reliability and success.
